Four plays later, Christmas connected with Michael Hauer for 34 yards. Hauer cut back across the field and reached the BC 1-yard line before being stopped. Christmas ran the option off left tackle and it was 6-0.

Christmas hit Granger on the conversion pass with 1:41 left in the quarter.

“We played better the second quarter,” said Wesson coach Ronald Greer. “We were better on defense and got some positive results. Tyler got past the first-game jitters and threw some good passes.”

Christmas completed 2 of 8 passes for 58 yards. He also rushed 4 times for 12 yards in the second quarter.

Bogue Chitto coach Gareth Sartin emphasized the passing game, with Roberts finding new receivers before the season opener. “WE were trying to work with the new guys. We need to replace those guys who graduated.

“Overall, it was a good jamboree,” Sartin added. “Defensively, we got some game experience. We threw the ball fairly well but we missed some deep opportunities.”

Roberts was 3 of 5 for 38 yards. Kurtlyn Lyons caught 1 pass for 29 yards. Eli Holmes had 2 catches for 9 yards. Jermaine Blackwell rushed 5 times for 17 yards.
