WESSON – A weekend filled with homecoming activities will conclude on Saturday with Copiah-Lincoln (5-1, 2-1) taking on Pearl River (3-3, 1-2) in a MACJC South Division face-off in Stone Stadium. Homecoming Queen Dana Sartin of Brookhaven will be crowned during an on-field ceremony at 2:30 p.m. The football game will kick off at 3 p.m.

The Wolfpack are coming off of a 48-7 shellacking of the previously No. 4 ranked Itawamba Indians. The big win moved Co-Lin up in the latest NJCAA poll from No. 9 last week to No. 7 this week.

Co-Lin freshman quarterback Daniel Fitzwater was awarded the MACJC Offensive Player of the Week after a career day throwing the football against Itawamba. The 6-6 signal caller from Shreveport, La., was 24-for-41 for 459 yards and four touchdowns. Wolfpack wide receiver Casey Gladney had a dominating day catching the football as he racked up 199 yards receiving on 9 catches. Gladney had one touchdown on the day and it came in spectacular fashion on the third play of the game when he connected with Ftizwater on a 73-yard touchdown pass.

The Wolfpack are facing an unranked Pearl River team that has been playing their best football of the season in the last few weeks. The Wildcats picked up their first division victory 38-14 over Southwest two week ago. Last week Pearl River fought hard before falling 19-17 to No. 8 Gulf Coast.

Tim Hatten, who once led Pearl River to a national championship, stepped down as the head coach after last season. Hatten had been in charge of the Wildcat program for 11 years but posted a 7-11 combined record in his last two years. Hatten was replaced by Williams Jones who came to Poplarville after serving as the defensive coordinator at East Mississippi.

Co-Lin rolled over Pearl River 44-21 last season in Poplarville. The Wolfpack defense picked off former Wildcat quarterback Dylan Favre three times. Co-Lin comes into the game winning three out of their last four games against Pearl River.
