BUDE – Standing 16-0, the Franklin County boys and girls soccer teams wrapped up a sweep of Loyd Star Thursday night with a pair of wins.

FCHS can clinch a playoff berth tonight with a win at Natchez Cathedral. Game time is set for 6 p.m. with girls’ and 7:30 with the boys’ game.

The Bulldogs (16-0) used some aggressive play from Mullins’ cousins Zayne and Hoby to ambush the Hornets in the first half with a quick 6-0 lead.

FC subbed in its junior varsity in the second half, after varsity starters Johnny Moore scored two goals, and Greg Queen, Kemo Verdin, Hoby Mullins, and Zayne Mullins a goal each. Both Mullins cousins had an assist each.

In the girls’ game, ┬ákeeper Macy Ziskin was automatic with eight saves and the shutout.

Si’Edriq Middleton and Harley McKay each scored two goals apiece, while junior Krislyn Kent netted one goal.

The FC soccer teams are off to their best starts in school history under direction of head coach Jeff Long and assistant coach Stephanie McCormick.
