Funeral services for Jewel Tarver of Brookhaven are 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Easthaven Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.

Mrs. Tarver, 82, died Jan. 20, 2014, at Haven Hall Nursing Center. She was born on May 16, 1931, to Linfield Purifoy and Tenie Lea Purifoy.

She was a homemaker and she was a member of Brookway Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her husband, J.C. “Jake” Tarver; five brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors are her daughters, Betty Sisco and Sharon Ellis and husband, Zeke, of Brookhaven; brother, Bob Purifoy of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Nell Green of Brookhaven; three special sisters-in-law, Minnie Wallace of Ponchatoula, La., Mable Evans of Meadville and Dot Temple of Brookhaven; three grandchildren, Johnny Sisco of Madison, Cindy Allen and husband, Warren, and Tiffani Bessonette and husband, Scott; and three great-grandchildren, Will Rutland, Hanna Grace Allen and Addison Bessonette.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Compassus Ministries.
