Funeral services for Carroll Joe Gunnell of Brookhaven are Friday, March 21, 2014, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.

Mr. Gunnell, 74, died March 17, 2014, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 27, 1940, to Sidney Estes Gunnell and Annie Ruth Moak Gunnell.

He was retired from the Lincoln County School District as a teacher and administrator and was employed post retirement with Walmart and as a school bus driver as well as a Mason. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Estes Gunnell, David Gunnell, and Shelton Gunnell; and sister, Annie Ruth Magee.

Survivors are his wife, Judy Cross Aldridge Gunnell; sons, Jason Gunnell and wife, Maurie; daughters, Pam Farris and husband, Jamie, Kim Prather, Bonnie Brady, Nova York and husband, David; brother-in-law, Dr. Ed Aldridge of Biloxi; 11 grandchildren, Eden and Steve Prather, Ashley Farris Martin, Kaley Farris, Dillion Farris, Cody Farris, Thomas Gunnell, Russel Paul Gunnel, Ryan Bateman, Justin Bateman, Katelynn and Koby Brady; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made at State Bank in memory of Mr. Gunnell.
