So where are the new restaurants?

Dear Editor:

On March 11, 2013, I wrote a letter to the editor, which was graciously printed, regarding the upcoming vote on liquor for the city of Brookhaven. My letter was followed by a number of other letters – some making their voices heard alongside mine against liquor and others making their voices heard for it.

Many people defended the legalization of liquor on the grounds of bringing new restaurants to our city. In fact, that was the battle cry I heard from many. However, one year later, we have zero new restaurants in our city. In fact, we have lost a couple. So, all of you on the liquor bandwagon for new restaurants, where are they?

The only thing I have seen since the vote was taken is rutted yards where people cannot seem to keep their automobiles on the road. There has been more vandalism in our area as well. So while we are working to repair our yard over and over, I hope you folks who wanted new restaurants are working hard on getting them here.
