West Lincoln bags wins over Bassfield, South Pike

The West Lincoln Bears riding a hot 10-game winning streak after rallying from behind to defeat the South Pike Eagles 13-9 in Saturday’s baseball action.

In Friday night’s play, the Bears overcame a sluggish start to exterminate the Bassfield Yellowjackets 17-7 to remain unbeaten in the Region 7-2A baseball race.

The Bears (14-2, 6-0) resume action Tuesday as they prepare to travel across Lincoln County for a huge Region 7-2A matchup against Enterprise. Junior varsity action starts at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

West Lincoln 13, South Pike 9 

The Bears managed to overcome a slow start both offensively and defensively to explode on the South Pike Eagles in the bottom of fifth inning by pushing across 10 runs after trailing 8-3.

Hunter Maxwell was the winning pitcher for West Lincoln with no strikeouts and one walk. Seth Bivens (4K, 1BB) started for the Bears and Brady Wilson (1K 2BB) closed the game.

Ty Forman provided a solid performance at the plate for the Bears as he blasted a solo home run, a three-run home run and a single to lead the team. Bryce Temple, Brady Wilson and Alex Neal contributed two singles apiece. Tyler Moak had a double and a single. Hitting safely were Chase Buckles and Lofton Sills.

Ray Tapp was the top slugger for South Pike with a home run and a single. Jonathan Cooper had a double. Justin Carter, Blake Lantrip, Keshaun Nimox and LaPatrick Nimox hit a single each.

In junior varsity action,  South Pike defeated West Lincoln 13-4.

Turner Pyles pitched for the Bears with no strikeouts and six walks.

Brady Thompson recorded the only hit for West Lincoln with a single.

West Lincoln 17, Bassfield 7 

Tanner Boutwell was the winning pitcher for the Bears with one strikeout and two walks. Jeremy Burns (4K, 1BB) pitched three innings in relief.

Tavarius Keene suffered the loss for Bassfield with two strikeouts and two walks. Curtis Mikell (0K, 2BB) and Kam Williams (2K, 3BB) saw some action in relief.

Brady Wilson was the top hitter for West Lincoln with a double and two singles. Lofton Sills, Jeremy Burns, Bryce Temple and Boutwell provided a pair of singles. Tyler Moak ripped a double and Alex Neal hit a single.

Ratario Thompson led Bassfield at the plate with a triple and two singles. Mikell contributed a triple and a single double. Williams had two singles. Timothy Arnold and Keenan McLaurin hit safely.
