Panthers successful in state finals

JACKSON – Three Ole Brook lifters participated in the Class 5A State Powerlifting Meet in the Mississippi Coliseum Saturday afternoon.

Ole Brook’s Anthony Wilson placed second in the 308 class with a total of 1440. He squatted 570 and benched a personal best 345, plus deadlifted 525.

Jay Turner placed third in the 198 class with a total of 1240. Turner squatted a personal best 465 and benched 250. He deadlifted 525-pounds. Darius Pendleton placed 5th in the 123 class with a total of 770. Pendleton squatted 275, benched 155 and deadlifted 340.

“I am very proud of my three guys who made it to state,” said Ole Brook Powerlifting coach Russ Britt. “They are the guys who are going to be very influential in building this powerlifting program to where myself and Coach Bland want it to be at.”

“We would also like to thank all the guys who put in all their hard work this season,” added Britt. “Lastly, I would like to thank the parents and our athletic director for their help and support.”

The Ole Brook Power Panthers are building a strong foundation with a bright future ahead.
