Pascagoula ends Lady Panthers season

PASCAGOULA – The Brookhaven Lady Panthers conclude their softball season after suffering two disappointing losses to the Pascagoula Lady Panthers Friday night in the opening round of the Class 5A State playoffs.

The Ole Brook Lady Panthers finished their season with a 8-20 record, but placed second in their Region 6-5A race with a record of 2-2.

Jamie Pugh was the winning pitcher for Pascagoula in Game Two with 12 strikeouts and two walks.

Katherine Shell absorbed the setback for Ole Brook with five strikeouts and two walks.

Victoria Hunter was the offensive lead at the plate for Pascagoula with three singles. Akeyla Thomas contributed two singles. Hannah Hembree had a double. Hitting safely were Carlie Vice, Jamie Pugh, Kaleigh Carvello and Kaleya Lillis.

Katie Grace Culpepper, Tia Bussey, Jada Henderson and Haley Speak were the top hitter for Ole Brook with a single each.

Pascagoula 15, Brookhaven 9 

Carvello secured the win for Pascagoula in Game Three with four strikeouts and two walks.

Shell suffered her second straight setback in a very long night for Brookhaven with three strikeouts and two walks.

Henderson was the top hitter for BHS with two doubles. Shell, Culpepper and Bussey hit safely.

Jaylin Cherry, Nykiera Bivins, Thomas and Pugh powered Pascagoula offense with a pair of singles apiece. Hembree and Carvello also hit a single each.
