BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats continue their impressive run in the Class 1A state softball playoff race as they complete a two-game sweep over the Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors Saturday winning 5-3 in Game Two.

In Friday night action, the Lady Cats captured Game One with a 13-6 victory over the Lady Warriors.

“Our girls did a fantastic job in securing two big wins to help us advance to the South 1A State championship,” said BC Coach Scott Leggett. “The girls came out ready to play Friday and Saturday against a very good Nanih Waiya ball team. I am extremely proud of my girls’ effort.”

The Lady Cats (25-6) advance to the Class 1A South State championship and will play the winner of the Stringer/Natchez Cathedral contest next weekend. Game times and locations have not been set.

Bogue Chitto 5, Nanih Waiya 3 

The Lady Cats and Lady Warriors came out swinging in the first inning as both teams scored two runs apiece.

The game remained tied a 2-2, until the fourth inning when BC managed to get their offense clicking again and pushed across two runs to take a 4-2 lead and later increase the margin to 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Lady Warriors put together another scoring drive in the seventh inning as they rallied to score one run but failed to inch closer as the Lady Cats ended the Nanih Waiya rally to clinch the win.

Christian Black was the winning pitcher for BC with five strikeouts and four walks.

Ryan Holdiness suffered the loss for the Lady Warriors with three strikeouts and one walk.

Alana Nettles powered the Lady Cats at the plate with three singles. Mattie Avants, Daley Roberts, Zariah Matthews and Black continued a pair of singles each. Hitting safely were Alexis Givens and Terrah Nelson.

Hope Thames recorded the only hit for the Lady Warriors with a single.

Bogue Chitto 13, Nanih Waiya 6

The Lady Cats conducted an offensive hitting clinic against Nanih Waiya Friday night as they drilled the Lady Warriors with a five-run explosion in the fourth and another five-run blast in the sixth inning to secure the win.

Nettles tossed the victory for the Lady Cats with five strikeouts and six walks.

Brantlee Sheets absorbed the loss for the Lady Warriors with three strikeouts and four walks.

Avants and Nettles sparked BC’s offense with three singles each. Roberts fueled the flames with a double and a single. Givens and Matthews contributed a pair of singles. Black had a double. Colby Kirkland and Nelson hit safely.

Ryan Holdiness was the top slugger for the Nanih Waiya with a home run. Hope Thames provided two singles. Hitting safely were Marlee Parkes, Reagan Holdiness, Ashlie Thames, Krysten Eaves, Livia Bush and Sheets.
