BUDE – Drake Nightingale pitched an eight-strikeout no-hitter and the Sumrall Bobcats eliminated the Franklin County Diamond Dawgs from the 3A playoffs with a 4-1 victory Friday night at ‘The Swamp.’

Nightingale, whose fastball reached 84 mph, was too much for the Bulldogs. A three run fifth inning provided Sumrall and Nightingale a 3-1 lead that halted the Bulldogs hopes.

Nick Clark and Nightingale each had two singles and an RBI.

FC hurler Derrick Brumfield absorbed the loss, striking out four despite three costly fielding errors by the Bulldogs defense.

For the series FC just had one hit, a single by Graham Cowart Thursday night in a 10-0 Game 1 loss at Sumrall.

Sumrall advances to the third round, while Franklin County ends their season with a 15-8 record.
