A Brookhaven man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl turned himself in to McComb police Monday.

Kris Liston Brown, 28, of 1601 Clark Travis Lane NE, Brookhaven, was booked on a charge of statutory rape and held at Pike County jail. Brown’s bail is set at $100,000 for the rape charge.

However, Brown was also charged with contempt of court, and is being held without bail for that charge, according to Supervisor/Detective Shannon Sullivan with the McComb Police Department.

Brown appeared at the McComb police department with counsel around noon on May 12.

Brown will be arraigned in McComb Municipal Court Friday morning, Sullivan said.

“We are still conducting our investigation. The victim is receiving assistance in a protective environment by the McComb Police Department,” said Sullivan, who said the incident occurred early in May.
