Banquet honors W. Lincoln athletes

The West Lincoln faculty and coaches honored their varsity athletes with a spring banquet to recognize the football, basketball, slowpitch softball, baseball, cheerleader, fastpitch softball, tennis, golf, archery, cross county and weightlifting teams.

West Lincoln Bears Athletic Director Willie Brumfield welcomed the large crowd to the banquet held at Poppa’s Fish House.

After the meal, coaches from each sport recognized their team’s achievements during the year and players were given awards to signify their hard work.

Layton Sills received the Most Valuable Offensive Player Award in slowpitch softball. Brianna Fauver received the Most Valuable Player Award in fastpitch softball. Duane Marshall received the Most Valuable Offensive Player Award in boys’ basketball. Keshaun London was recognized as the Most Valuable Defensive Player in boys’ basketball. Sam Bivens earned the Rebounding MVP in boys’ basketball.

Destiny Allen was honored with the Most Valuable Offensive Player. Hanna Moak earned the Most Valuable Rebounding Award in girls’ basketball. Layton Sills received the Most Valuable Defensive Player in girls’ basketball.

Jonah King got the Male Golfer medal. Skylar Hall and Destiny Wallace received the Female Golfer Medalist. Jason Watts received the boys cross country Most Dedicated and the Running Bears award in Track.

In tennis, boys’ doubles Gage Butler and Tay Applewhite and girls’ doubles Katy Clark and Kara Clark were selected as the Most Valuable Players. Gage Butler and Caroline Laird received the MVP Award in tennis singles.

In archery, Hope Addison and Cole Little were recognized as the Gold Medalists.

Brady Wilson was honored with the Most Valuable Pitcher and Offensive Player Awards in baseball. Tyler Moak was selected Most Valuable Defensive Player in baseball.

Jonah King was honored with the overall Most Valuable Player Award in football. Bryce Temple received with Offensive MVP in football. Tyler Moak was selected as the Most Valuable Defensive Player in football. Dalton Brown was recognized as the Big Grizzly award winner in weightlifting.

Before the end of the ceremony, Coach Brumfield presented two special awards. He recognized Caroline Laird and Jonah King as the Lindy Callahan Award nominee winners. Emily Walker received the FCA Award. Principal Jason Case honored Jonah King as the Scholar Athlete winner.

In the conclusion of the ceremony, teammates, friends, families, coaches and West Lincoln’s faculty watched a slide show in appreciation of their teams’ achievements.
