The 49th annual “World Famous Dixie Basketball Camp and Country Club (Hey!)” tips off today at Southwest Community College campus. This is the 41st year for the camp to be held at Southwest after moving here from Baton Rouge in 1974.

According to camp director Joe Dean Jr. (aka General II), approximately 500 boys in grades 5-12 will attend one of the camp’s two one-week sessions (July 13-18, July 20-25). The campers, as well as the coaches, come primarily from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
