Graveside Services for Thomas “Tom” E. Smith of Brookhaven are 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Services.

Mr. Smith, 78, died Aug. 5, 2014, at St. Dominic’s Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on March 17, 1936, in Franklin County to Carl E. Smith and Nellie S. Smith.

He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and retired from Pest Control after 40 plus years. He also was a veteran and was part of the Brookhaven City Masonic Lodge. Mr. Smith served as Alderman of Ward 5 in Brookhaven from 1997-2005.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and son, Thomas Jeffery Smith.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Linda L. Smith; his son, Todd Smith and wife, Julie, of Pass Christian; two grandchildren, Leanne Smith and Carl Smith; and one great-grandchild, Shavo Ziny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Heart Association 7272 Greenvile Ave. Dallas, TX 75231 and or American Diabetes Association, 200 Office Park Drive Suite 303, Birmingham, AL 35223.
