Funeral Services for Marie Worthy of Ferriday, Louisiana are 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Comer Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Menesses will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kyle Nations, Joey Saucier, Jamie Keys, Adam Baity, Lee Knapp and Danny Burris. Comer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday, Louisiana.

Mrs. Worthy, 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Country Brook Living Center in Brookhaven surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 14, 1933, in Ferriday, Louisiana, to William Butler and Sally Dickens Maples.

She was a certified nurse’s assistant at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, Louisiana, and Jefferson Davis Hospital in Natchez. She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist, and she loved being outdoors and adopted all animals that came her way. Mrs. Worthy also loved her crafts she made. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Chuck Worthy; an infant daughter, Jackie Haney; sisters, Alice Licata, Mary Westbrook, Edna Bennett, Ethel Teal and Gladys Hale; and brothers, William Bobby Maples and Henry Thomas Maples.

Survivors are her daughter, Carolyn Saucier and husband, Joseph, of Natchez; three sons, Mack Nations of Silver Creek, Donnie Haynie and wife, Carolyn, of Bogue Chitto, Michael Nations and wife, Lisa, of Silver Creek; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
