Construction will begin today on Washington Street, said the Rev. Jerry Wilson, District One supervisor.

The road will be closed into next week during construction, weather permitting. The exact time frame is yet to be determined.

Crews will add more gravel to the road where water has been pooling during rain. Wilson said he wants to make sure the road is up to par.

Drivers are advised to use an alternative route.
