Funeral Services for Alvin Jones of Monticello were 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, with burial in Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, from 11 a.m. until time of service at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive.

Mr. Jones, 72, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2014, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. He was born on Oct. 21, 1941, in Douglas, Georgia, to Albert Daniel and Lizzie Mae Allen Jones.

He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and wife, Martha Jones.

Survivors are his sisters, Shirley Parks of Griffin, Georgia, and Ruth Linda Brugonone and husband, Lee, of Florida; brother, John Irvin Jones of McDonough, Georgia; niece, Pamela Perkins and husband, Scott; nephew, David Terrel Cook and Richard Lane Cook and wife, Bonnie Sue; a host of grandchildren; and other nieces, nephews and friends.
