Mrs. Launa, as she was known to so many, began her 40 plus years of banking career at a bank in Magnolia and then worked in Jackson. Some years later she became the branch manager of the Bogue Chitto branch of Brookhaven Bank & Trust Co., that later became Trustmark National Bank, where she worked for many years. She retired from fulltime banking in 2003 for a short time, then returning as part time teller at Trustmark Bank in Brookhaven. She was a dedicated employee during her banking career.

She was a 1961 graduate of Bogue Chitto High School; she was a member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church and a member of the Bogue Chitto Order of the Eastern Star #263, as well as a Red Cross volunteer.

Mrs. Launa was a very devoted mother and Granny as well as a loving and supportive friend. She considered herself an adopted Granny to many children, all of whom loved her. She enjoyed going to ballgames and supporting the Bogue Chitto Bobcats but also supported other schools where her grandchildren may have played sports. She was once selected Parent of the Year at Enterprise school.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Berry W. “Bud” Givens.

Survivors are her three daughters and their spouses, Kimberly Ann Givens Nelson (Gary) of Bogue Chitto, Kristi Annette Givens Barron (Trent) of Smithdale, Karen Aileen Givens (Anthony Magee) of McComb; her three grandchildren, Taylor Gwin Nelson, Marium Terrah Nelson and Kayson Berry-O’Neal Magee; her sister-in-law, Janie Givens Hart of Bogue Chitto; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
