WESSON – The Lady Cobras hosted the Lady Tigers Tuesday night and captured another big district win in slowpitch softball.

Wesson took the lead early in the first inning and held the Lady Tigers for a quick three-inning game in route of a 23-0 contest.

“The girls came out much more relaxed and hit the ball well” said Wesson coach Michelle Nunnery. “Now we have to get ready for Hazlehurst and Franklin County for the rest of district play.”

Wesson will travel Hazlehurst Thursday to face the Lady Indians. Varsity game time begins at 4:30 and the junior varsity will follow the varsity game.

Wesson 23, Crystal Springs 0 

The Lady Cobras defeated the Lady Tigers in a 23-0 win. Wesson controlled the game by filling the bases with good hits and several errors by Crystal Springs.

Riley Smith and Aurianna Vaughn were the winning pitchers with one strike out and one walk each.

Harmoni Ashley (RBI-4) hit an in-the-park homerun, a triple and a single. Riley Smith (RBI-5) was also a big hitter with a triple, double and a single. Top fielder for the Lady Cobras was Kayla Britt with two outs.

For the Lady Tigers, Kaybreonna Catchings had the only hit, which was a single. Brianna Wheeler was top fielder with two outs at shortstop.

In JV action, The Lady Cobras defeated the Lady Tigers Tuesday afternoon with a final score of 14-1.

Wesson’s Natalie Bonds hit a single and double. A’rie Douglas hit two singles. Shelbi Maxwell, Shaylin Green and Makenzie Dooley each had a double. Douglas was top fielder with four outs at second base.

The top hitter for the Lady Tigers was Brianna Wheeler with a double. Top fielder for Crystal Springs was Jakayla Staton with four outs at third base.
