Memorial Services for James “Jim” Coney will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Coney died, Sept. 5, 2014, at Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home in Basin, Wyoming.

He was born in Yazoo City, on Aug. 17, 1920, the second child of Fred and Caroline Coney. True life began for him when he gave his heart and life to Christ in his youth. While serving in the United States Navy near the conclusion of World War II, Jim sensed that God was calling him to preach the gospel as a full-time minister.

Mr. Coney married his forever sweetheart and ministry partner Isabel Smith on March 26, 1949. Together they served as Baptist missionaries in the Mississippi River Delta area of Louisiana for 30 years.
