MMOFPSRPG – (acronym) 1.) Multi member online first person shooter role playing game. 2.) May make onliners forget people still require proper grooming.

If you stand near me for more than five minutes, two things become clear: 1) I have horrible taste in shirts, and 2) I love video games.

In the past, I have competed in state and national tournaments, placing second in Mississippi and third in Louisiana, and I was the first person in Brookhaven to own an NES in 1985.

So when I say the new game “Destiny” is one of the best looking video games I’ve ever seen, it is not said lightly.

Beyond the eye candy, the premise is pretty basic. Choose from 3 races, human, awoken or exo, and three classes of character: titan, hunter or warlock. Then find a bad guy. If you can shoot it, do so. Repeat.

You collect money and gear that can be traded for better gear and money, all the while increasing your characters various traits and level. Basic ‘shoot and loot.’ (see “Borderlands” minus the funny)

A companion, or “Ghost,” is there to point you to the next “not us, must die” bad guy. Plus, he’s voiced by Peter Dinklage of “Game of Thrones” fame, so there’s that.

The player vs. player “Crucible” is fun but nothing new. Where “Destiny” shines is in the cooperative play where you and two other controller jockeys do battle with aliens, robots and ‘other’ for guts and glory.

To sum up, this game is pretty and a blast to play. It takes about three to four days to complete the story mode, but you can play it forever with its infinite character development and upcoming DLC (downloadable content) and events.

Just don’t forget to shower.

Class dismissed.
