Funeral Services for Thomas Judson “T.J.” Smith of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, with burial in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive.

Mr. Smith, 87, died Oct. 5, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 5, 1927, in Brookhaven to Edgar Smith and Virgie Watts Smith.

Mr. Smith was retired from Bell South Telephone Company. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy and in the Korean War with the U.S. Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 56 years, Ruth Marie Smith; his son, Tommy Smith; two brothers, Howard Smith and Edward Smith; one sister, Ernestine Smith.

Survivors are his son Howard Smith of Brookhaven; two grandsons, T.J. Smith and his wife, Jennifer, of Bogue Chitto and Cory Robinson of Georgia; a niece, Patty Jean Hollingsworth; and two nephews, Anthony Smith and Danny Smith; along with a host of great nieces and great nephews.
