Graveside Services for Edith Irene Dunigan of Brookhaven and resident of Silver Cross Nursing Home are 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery at McCall Creek. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, from 1 until 3 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive.

Mrs. Dunigan, 94, died Oct. 7, 2014, at Silver Cross Nursing Home. She was born on July 2, 1920, in McCall Creek to Edward Applewhite and Nora Smith Applewhite.

Mrs. Dunigan was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting for a number of years; she loved gardening, particularly growing flowers. She was a devoted wife, mother and avid church member.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Linard E. Dunigan; three brothers, Harold, Alton and Melvin Applewhite; two sisters, Hilda Applewhite and Norma Rae Applewhite; one grandson, Tristan Dunigan; and one great-grandson.

Survivors are her two daughters, Linda Bryan (Dale) of McCall Creek and Norma Finnegan (Robert) of Florence; two sons, Ralph Dunigan (Pat) of Easley, South Carolina, and Ronald Dunigan (Carolyn) of Riverview, Florida; three sisters, Marinell Applewhite and Carolyn Smith, both of Brookhaven, and Helen Ketteringhan of Pearl; two brothers, Donald Applewhite (Frankie) of McCall Creek and Glen Applewhite (Peggy) of Brookhaven; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation of Mississippi.
