Region 2A, 3A and 4A start their playoff march this Friday. West Lincoln is represented in the Class 2A playoffs as the fourth seed in Region 7-2A race and will travel to Lake to play the Lake Hornets.

In the 3A classification, Franklin County entertains Forest, Hazlehurst hosts Raleigh and Wesson invades Choctaw County.

In other local action, McComb welcomes Forrest County and North Pike entertains Northeast Jones in the Region 4A playoffs. Copiah Academy and Parklane will wrap up their 2014 season this Friday. Copiah Academy visits Columbia Academy, and Jackson Prep invades Parklane.

Here is just a reminder that all games, including playoff games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Lawrence County (6-5, 2-3), Loyd Star (2-9, 1-4) and Enterprise (0-10, 0-5)  have concluded their football season last week, and everyone is looking forward to the upcoming season.

In a personal standpoint, I want to ask everyone to please keep Loyd Star’s senior Peyton Flowers and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Ask God to put his loving hands on Peyton and heal him.

In last week prognostications,  I posted a 5-2 record in week eleven predictions. GREAT! Hopefully, I can guess it right again in this week’s forecast, to help motivate our schools to advance to the playoffs or further. But don’t get wrong it is just a prediction to help to motivate our local teams.

I would also like to say congratulations to West Lincoln for making school history last week in clinching their first ever playoffs appearance in their football program.

Congratulations to Wesson as well for the making playoffs for the first time in Class 3A football action as a second-year member.

Brookhaven (6-4, 3-3), coached by Tommy Clopton, had to overcome a sluggish first half to put away the Wingfield Falcons 34-16 last Thursday night.

This week, the Panthers are excited about the task at hand as they know this is a do-or-die situation as prepare for the Pearl River Central Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils (5-4, 4-2), under the direction of coach Eric Collins, torched the Natchez Bulldogs 63-24 in Adams County.

Working in the trenches for the Panthers’ offensive line is Jordan Nations, Stephen Springfield, Wanya Morris, Maliak Powell, Jared Dillon and Brandon Rice.

Last year: Brookhaven defeated Pearl River Central 25-20.

My prediction for this Friday: This should be a war between two evenly matched teams as Ole Brook prevails 35-30.

West Lincoln (5-6, 2-3),  coached by Willie Brumfield, made history last Friday by clinching their first ever playoff appearance in football in the school’s 15-year program. The Bears rallied back to edge the Loyd Star Hornets 28-26 on William E. “Sambo” Smith Field.

This week, West Lincoln embarks on their first journey in the playoffs as they prepare to visit Lake to take on the Lake Hornets in the opening round of the Class 2A race.

Bogue Chitto (1-10, 0-7),  coached by Gareth Sartin, suffered a tough 47-7 loss to the Salem Wildcats in Walthall County.

This week, the Bobcats will be hunting for their second win of the season as they prepare to close out the year at home against the Stringer Red Devils.

The Red Devils (3-7, 3-4), coached by Marlon Brannan, destroyed the Sacred Heart Crusaders 33-0 last week.

Working in the trenches of the Bobcats’ offensive line are: left tackle Matthew Black, left guard Bo Smithers, center Will Fauver, right guard Devin McEwen, right tackle Hayden Burton and tight end Kody Halford.

Last year: Stringer burned the Bobcats 52-24.

My pick for this Friday: The Bobcats will come our strong and give all they have in their final game of the year, but the Red Devils will escape Troy Smith Field with a 28-14 victory.

Franklin County (7-3, 5-0),  coached by first-year head coach Anthony Hart, is currently riding a six-game winning streak after beating the Jefferson County Tigers 28-18 last week in Meadville to close out the season undefeated in the Region 7-3A race.

Defensively, The Bulldogs were highlighted by big plays on defense by linebacker Chris O’Quinn, whom collected 16 tackles and an interception. Michael White added 11 hits and a fumble recovery.

My prediction for this Friday:  This should a defensive battle between rushing attacks as the Bulldogs edge the Bearcats 21-18.

Wesson (4-7, 2-3),  coached by Ronald Greer, took fourth place in Region 7-3A action Friday night after falling to the Wilkinson County Wildcats 33-6 in Stone Stadium.

This week, the Cobras experience a new season as they compete in the Class 3A playoffs. Wesson will be on the road Friday as they visit Ackerman to battle the Choctaw County Chargers.

My prediction for this Friday: Wesson will come out pumped up for the opening of the playoffs, but the Chargers will zap the Cobras for a 35-21 victory.
