Centreville defeats Lady Cougars

CENTREVILLE – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars suffered a 58-37 loss to the Centreville Academy Lady Tigers Tuesday night in MAIS basketball action.

The boys’ game was cancelled due to the Centreville Tigers football team being in the state championship Friday night.

In other action, the BA Lady Cougars and Cougars’ seventh grade team were victorious. The junior varsity teams lost to Centreville Academy in close games.

Centreville 58, BA 37 

Sophie Wilson powered the Lady Cougars attack pumping in a game-high 10 points and four assists. Edie Riley chipped in with nine points. McKinley Evans and Anna Kathryn Smith were the leader on the boards with four rebounds apiece.

Katelyn Chandler was the top shooter for the Lady Tigers with 18 points. Sydney Lyons contributed 14 points in the Lady Tigers victory.

BA 27, Centreville 20 

Tanner Thurman directed the BA’s seventh grade boys’ team to the win with a team high 12 points. Piker Ratcliff provided six points.

Centreville 43, BA 41 

Tate Felder scored 15 points to lead BA’s junior varsity boys in the disappointing loss. Ethan Nations and Luke Jackson chipped in with 11 points each.
