Loyd Star’s kickers split with Cathedral

The Loyd Star Hornets and Lady Hornets captured a split decision in high school soccer action last Tuesday on William E. “Sambo” Smith Field.

In the boys contest, the Hornets won 3-1 against Natchez Cathedral. Loyd Star’s goals were made by Jordan Michelle, Blayne Brister and Connor Crosby.

Dylan Smith had nine clearances followed by Brett Calcote with eight, Lane Rogers with seven and Cameron Smith with five.

The Hornets’ goalie, Hayden Brownlee made seven saves.

In the girls game, the Lady Hornets lost to Cathedral with a final score of 4-1. The only goal for the Lady Hornets was made by center forward, Mallory Holden.

On defense, Shelby Richardson had eight clearances and one block. Followed by Starr Thomas with eight and Amber Archer with seven. Terra Lipps, Morgyn Brister and Courtney Wyatt all had four clearances each.

Lady Hornets’ goalie, Polly Patterson had four saves.
