The Brookhaven Academy Cougars secured a big division win Friday Night after knocking off the Prentiss Christian Saints 50-36 in John R. Gray Gymnasium.

BA will take the rest of the week off before resuming action Friday, Dec. 19 as they prepare to host the Centreville Academy Tigers for a junior varsity and varsity boys’ only contest, starting at 5 p.m.

The Cougars came out and quickly set the tone of the contest in the opening quarter by hammering the Saints with a 19-3 run and continued to roll in the second quarter as BA pushed their lead to 32-11 at halftime.

In the second half of action, the Cougars continued to dominate the Saints as they extended their lead to 45-25 after three quarters of action.

In the final quarter, BA preserved the victory with a 15-11 run to gain a big division win.

Senior forward Peyton Hood powered the Cougars with 22 points, five assists and five rebounds. Austin Smith contributed 12 points and had four steals. Caleb Brown netted seven points and also helped on the boards with five rebounds. Trent Nettles had six points.

Blake Greenlee was the offensive leader for the Saints with 11 points. Peyton Dungan provided eight points. Josh Saley and Chris Thomason scored six points apiece.
