Lady Jackets edge West Lincoln, Bears roar past Enterprise

BOGUE CHITTO – The West Lincoln Bears and the Enterprise Lady Jackets claimed victories in the last day of Lincoln County tournament action Saturday at the Bobcat Palace.

In girls’ action, the Lady Jackets squeezed out a narrow 42-40 win over the Lady Bears.

In the boys’ contest, the Bears roared past the Jackets to secure a 73-45 win.

Enterprise 42, West Lincoln 40 

The Lady Bears and the Lady Jackets provided an exciting contest to kick off the last day of tournament action Saturday afternoon as West Lincoln took control of the first quarter with a 14-7 run.

The Lady Jackets fought back in the second quarter to nip West Lincoln 8-7 as the Lady Bears took a 21-15 lead into halftime.

In the second half of action, the Lady Jackets outscored the Lady Bears 27-19 in the final two frames to collect a narrow 42-40 win over West Lincoln.

Megan Rippy paced the Lady Jackets (8-3) with a team-high 12 points to lead three players in double figures. Alissa Barlow and Carlee Nations contributed 10 points apiece. Michelle Herrington scored five points, Courtney Greer had three points and Adrienne Byrd added two points.

Layton Sill directed the Lady Bears (2-8) with a game-high 15 points. Hanna Moak provided nine points and had seven rebounds. Demeshia Deer chipped in with seven points and grabbed five rebounds. Alli Mullins netted five points and helped on the boards with seven rebounds. Lillianne Rushing had four points.

West Lincoln 73, Enterprise 45 

The Bears and the Jackets battled in a close first quarter of action as West Lincoln led 7-6 before the Bears exploded in the second quarter with a 30-14 run to lead at halftime 37-20.

In the second half, West Lincoln and Enterprise gave their basketball fans a great offensive show, but the Bears won the scoring spree with a 17-14 run in the third and a 19-11 run in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Keshaun London powered the Bears (4-6) with a game-high 25 points, six rebounds and three steals. Lofton Sills provided double-double performance with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Ronnie Edwards and Zekenith Ports added eight points apiece. Seth Bivens netted seven points. Edwards helped on the board with nine rebounds.

Dwayne Pendleton was the top scorer for the Jackets with 12 points. Jarrod Dixon contributed 11 points. Jontavious Smith helped with nine points.
