Montgomery Co stings BC Boys

KILMICHAEL – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats basketball season came to an end last Tuesday night for the boys as they fell to the Montgomery County Hornets 73-49 in the opening round of the MHSAA Class 1A state playoffs.

The Bobcats conclude their season with a 4-24 record, but finished fourth in the Region 7-1A race with a 3-5 record.

The Hornets of Montgomery County came out and quickly overpowered the Bobcats in the first half of action as they claimed a 22-7 lead in the first quarter and continued to increase their lead with a 20-6 run to lead at halftime 42-13.

In the second half, the Bobcats worked hard to battle back into the contest as they outscored the Hornets 20-19 in the third quarter and again in the fourth quarter with a 16-12 but could not overcome Montgomery County’s large lead at the end.

D.J Nunnery was the top scorer for the Bobcats with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Brumfield contributed 11 points. Jeremiah Perkins scored six points and grabbed nine rebounds. Matthew Black helped on the boards with eight rebounds and scored three points.

Dontavion Smith and Carlos Julliff powered the Montgomery County Hornets offense with 17 points apiece. Akkevioun Robinson chipped in with 15 points.
