DAILY LEADER / TERESA ALLRED / West Lincoln’s Ty Forman (8) reaches second base safely in Friday night action against Salem.

The West Lincoln Bears opened the 2015 baseball season Friday night as players and fans braved freezing temperatures to see the Bears faced the Salem Wildcats. The Wildcats were able to edge West Lincoln 11-10.

Leading the Bears at the plate were seniors Ty Forman and Bryce Temple with a double and two singles each. Austin Burris provided a double and single. Charles Wayne Smith, Kyler Fielder, and Hunter Maxwell hit two singles each. Alex Neal, Daniel Spears, and Nathaniel Addison all hit safely.

In Saturday action,  The Natchez Bulldogs traveled to West Lincoln for the second day of the West Lincoln classic. The Bears and Bulldogs played Varsity and Junior Varsity games.

In the varsity matchup the Bulldogs out scored the Bears 13-10.

Austin Burris lead the Bears at the plate with two doubles and a single. Bryce Temple hit three singles. Daniel Spears provided two singles. Ty Forman, Hunter Maxwell, and Nathaniel Addison each hit safely.

In the JV games,  the Bears were able to beat the Bulldogs 8-3.

Nathaniel Addison led the Bears with two singles. Hunter Maxwell, Seth Bivens, Landon Lynch, Gabe Nations, and Bailey Hughes also hit safely.
