Allen named Co-Lin cheer coach

WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln Athletic Director Gwyn Young announces the hiring of Micah Beassie Allen as the new cheerleading coach for Co-Lin athletics. Allen is a 2003 graduate of Co-Lin and served as a Wolfpack cheerleader during her time as a student. Allen replaces longtime cheer coach Twyana Morse.

A native of Brookhaven, Allen graduated from Mississippi College with a business degree following her time in Wesson. A cheerleader since the age of 11, Allen was a member of the Brookhaven High School cheer squad. She has also worked at the Mississippi Gym of Dreams for seven years, coaching children from ages three and up. Allen was selected as a NCA All-American five times and has worked at numerous junior high and high school cheer camps, as well as given private lesson.

“I’m elated over this new opportunity,” said Allen. “My family is looking forward to joining the Co-Lin family,” said Allen.

Allen is married to Collins Allen (’01) and is the mother of four sons, Jack, Mason, Carson Mac, and Judd Michael. The Allens are members of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven.

Co-Lin will hold cheerleader tryouts for the 2015-2016 squad on Friday, April 10, at 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 11, 8:30 a.m. at Callender Hall on the college’s Wesson Campus. The application deadline is March 31, 2015 and there is a $20 tryout fee. Call 601-643-8491 for more information.
