Earlene McCaffrey Smith, 77, of Brookhaven, died on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Mrs. Smith was born on April 8, 1937 in McComb to Freddy McCaffrey and Lottie Mae Roberts McCaffrey.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was retired after a long career from Stahl Urban and Auburn Sportswear.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Stubbs, Dorothy Coke and Idelle Whittington; brothers James Loyd McCaffrey and Billy Joe McCaffrey.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 58 years, Vencie Ladell Smith of Brookhaven; sisters Bobbie Jean Burnette and husband, James, of Vicksburg and Diane Burnette and husband, Leroy, of Brookhaven; brother Claude McCaffrey of Brookhaven; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family is planning a private ceremony at a later date. Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) is in charge of arrangements.
