The Loyd Star Lady Hornets stormed through the East Marion Lady Eagles Tuesday night to clinch two Region 7-2A victories in softball action.

The Lady Hornets thumped in the Lady Eagles 11-1 in the Game One and clobbered East Marion 18-1 in the second game.

Loyd Star (13-2, 5-0) continues action Thursday as they prepare to host the West Lincoln Lady Bears for another big district test. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

Loyd Star 11, East Marion 1 

The Lady Hornets quickly dominated the Lady Eagles in Game One to win in five innings of action.

Kelsie McCullough was the winning pitcher for the Lady Hornets with six strikeouts and no walks.

Skylar Sistrunk suffered the loss for the Lady Eagles with one strikeout and no walks.

Ali Gartman powered the Lady Hornets’ offensive attack with a home run and two singles. Megan Norton came close of hitting a cycle in Game One with a triple, a double and a single. Brooks Rushing and Julie Smith ripped a pair of single apiece.

Jasmine Salis and Savanna James led the Lady Eagles at the plate with a single apiece.

Loyd Star 18, East Marion 1 

The Lady Hornets continued their offensive attack in Game Two as they clobbered the Lady Eagles in three innings of action.

Gartman pitched the win in Game Two with four strikeouts and no walks.

Robaneshia Thompson took the loss for East Marion with no strikeouts and six walks.

Johnna Norman sparked the Lady Hornets at the plate with three singles. Abagail Thornton fueled the flames with two singles. Hitting safely were Julie Smith, Megan Norton, McCullough, Gartman and Rushing.

Savanna James recorded the only hit at the plate for East Marion with a double.
