Fire Training

Photo by KAITLIN MULLINS The city of Brookhaven Fire Department and volunteer fire departments in the county came together for a joint training exercise coordinated by the Zetus Volunteer Fire Department Training Officer Jonathon Alford (center, in red). The departments participated in a water drafting exercise to familiarize the BFD with the vehicles the county uses to take water from a larger source by suction and move it elsewhere. The county uses these tank vehicles to transport water in the county where there are not many fire hydrants, and are called in to help the city on big jobs where a lot of water is needed quickly. BFD Captain Jeff Ainsworth (left, in red), Zetus VFD Chief Dale Anding (right, in blue) and Alford said this is the first exercise of its kind and should streamline the process when they work together.
