The Alcorn State University Braves are set to begin play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) tournament Wednesday, former Southwest baseball standout, Collin Carroll, has received two post-season awards. Carroll was a member of the Bears’ squad from 2012-2014.

Carroll has been named the SWAC’s Newcomer of the Year and Second Team All-Conference. He is currently leading the team in hits with 67 (tied for third in the SWAC), runs batted in (47-fifth in the SWAC), doubles (15-tied for fourth in the SWAC), home runs (11-tied for first in the SWAC) and walks (29). He is currently second on the team with a .345 batting average.
