RIDGELAND – The Loyd Star Lady Hornets captured Game One of the best of three series in Class 2A State Fastpitch Softball Championship action Friday night at Freedom Ridge Park.

The Lady Hornets defeated the East Webster Lady Wolverines in a close 3-2 contest.

Loyd Star (27-3) will resume action Saturday as they take on the Lady Wolverines in Game Two, starting at 10 a.m. Game Three will follow if it is necessary.
