Crum and Brashier honored with postseason awards

0524 colinsoftball.WEBWESSON – Copiah-Lincoln freshmen softball players Jessica Crum and Lauren Brashier have been selected to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State team.

Crum,  a catcher and designated hitter, rewrote the Lady Wolves record books in her first season in Wesson. For her efforts Crum has been named MACJC First Team All-State and NJCAA All-Region 23. She broke the single season home run record after hitting 16 in 2015. The previous record was 10 home runs in a season. Crum led the team with 59 RBIs, which were 40 more than the next closest hitter. Crum led the team in hits (49), batting average (.480), plate appearances (133), walks (28), and tied for the team lead in doubles (eight). A graduate of Dutchtown High School (La.), Crum was named national player of the week following the opening week of the season when she hit two home runs and 14 RBIs.

Brashier  saw action in the infield, outfield, and in the pitcher’s circle as a freshman. The Heidelberg Academy product settled into being a consistent presence at the plate as the season progressed and has been selected MACJC Second Team All-State. Brashier finished with a .381 batting average and 32 hits in 84 at bats. She hit 25 singles, five doubles, one triple, one homerun, and 15 RBIs.
