Funeral Services for Edwin E. Smith of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Friendship Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery.

Visitation is 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service. He will lie in state at the church from 10 until 11 a.m. before the service on Wednesday.

Mr. Smith, 83, died May 24, 2015, at his residence. He was born on July 24, 1931, to Elmer and Eunice Smith.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a chemical engineer and project manager, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Shea Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeannine T. Smith; sons, Eric Smith and wife, Myrna, Blake Smith and wife, Kelli; daughter, Penne Irvin and husband, Michael; brother, Truett Smith and wife, Sarah; sister, Isabel Coney; nine grandchildren, Zachary Irvin and wife, Ruthie, Brandon Smith, Justin Smith, Caitlyn Irvin, Aimee McKay and husband, Mark, Brianna Smith, Elleana Smith and Hannah Smith; a special adopted grandson, Tyler Coker; a special adopted granddaughter, Jessica Davis; and one great-grandchild, Hazel, daughter of Zach and Ruthie Irvin; along with many nieces and nephews.
