Reader feedback is always welcome

Bigger is better. That was the general sentiment from Daily Leader readers who called to complain about a perceived decrease in the size of the font used for stories.

Though a smaller font was mistakenly used in one edition of the newspaper, it has been its usual size since. But other aspects of the font did change. Not to be too technical, but the kerning — space between the letters — decreased to a more appropriate amount. That might have led some readers to think the font was smaller.

So to compensate for that, we have increased the font size. So starting with this past Friday’s edition, the font used on our stories is larger than it has been in recent history.  Obviously, one of the most important aspects of our publication is readability. We hope this change makes your newspaper more readable.

When it comes to listening to readers, newspaper companies too often turn a deaf ear. But we value your input, and are more than happy to make changes that will improve your reading experience.

And it doesn’t have to stop with an increased font size. We have asked for your input before, and we continue to seek it. How can we better serve you, our readers, advertisers and customers? Do you currently like what you see when you open your Daily Leader? If not, let us know.

Don’t worry, you won’t hurt our feelings. Just like any business, we depend on honest feedback to improve our many products. What would you like to see in your newspaper that’s not currently there? What do you see that you wish wasn’t there?

We are here to serve you, and we can do a better job of that with more feedback from the folks who matter most — you.
