“First of all I would like to take this opportunity to say how grateful I am to have had the chance to play and coach along side Coach Edwards,” said Parvin. “I consider him a great mentor and friend. He will be truly missed next year.

“I would also like to say how honored and excited I am to be able to come back home and have an opportunity to be the head coach at a school so near and dear to my heart,” continued Parvin. “I look forward to helping these kids on and off the field to continue the great tradition of BA Cougar Baseball.”

Parvin, a 2010 graduate of Brookhaven Academy, was a pitcher and third baseman on the 2010 baseball state championship team. Parvin played two seasons at Southwest Community College before earning his B.S. in Sport Management from Mississippi State University in 2015

Edwards, who also served as the high school principal and athletic director, is leaving the program after seven seasons to enter the private sector. Edwards led the Cougars to the playoffs in six of those seven seasons, winning the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Class AA State Championship in 2010.

Edward shared his thoughts on his departure from Brookhaven Academy.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at BA and I’m so thankful and honored to have had the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful school for the past six years,” said Edwards. “I will always cherish the students, faculty, staff, and patrons I’ve had the pleasure of working with during my tenure there. I’ve been very fortunate to form many relationships at BA that will hopefully last a lifetime.”

“I have a accepted a position with Executive Air Charter here in Brookhaven” continued Edwards. “This is an opportunity for me to join a new company that is growing and thriving in the charter jet industry, but also an opportunity for me to spend more time with my family.”

“It’s very exciting and gratifying for me to hand the reigns over to Tyler Parvin. I’m confident he will continue to do great things for BA Baseball. Tyler was a very special player for me and he played an enormous role in us winning the 2010 State Championship during my first year at BA. As a player and an assistant coach for me, Tyler was always someone I could trust and give many roles and responsibilities to, so I have no doubt he will be a great head coach.”

“My wife and I look forward to being parents of BA children and we will continue to support the school and its leadership.”
