Tourism campaign starts with slogan

The decades-old slogan “Homeseeker’s Paradise” represents Brookhaven just fine when it comes to attracting new residents. But it does little to entice people to visit the city for a weekend.

And that’s exactly why the Brookhaven Tourism Promotional Council has hired a marketing firm to re-brand the city for tourism purposes. Raborn Media has been at work creating a logo and slogan to be used across marketing platforms for the council including a new website, Twitter account and Facebook page.

“We don’t want to diminish what’s been built, we want to build upon what’s been built,” Tyler Raborn said. “We want to establish — this [place] is good. It is a good hometown, it is a good retirement community, but there’s more to it than this. And you need to come and find out about it — and we need to put that into three or four words.”

The council is wise to partner with a marketing firm to help draw tourists to Brookhaven. The city has so much to offer. Sure, it’s a great place to live and raise a family, but it’s also a great place for a quick getaway.

Its history and connection to the railroad will surely be part of the new marketing push. But those are just two of many reasons why someone might want to visit the city. It also boasts popular festivals and events, a thriving arts culture and shopping that often can’t be found in a small city. The city’s food scene is also rapidly improving.

Brookhaven is a great place to be — whether for a lifetime or a long weekend. We look forward to the new slogan and the new visitors it will attract.
