A car accident Monday evening resulted in the death of a Brookhaven woman.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris confirmed that Melisa Prebish, 42, of Brookhaven was killed in a near head-on collision on Pleasant Hill Road.

Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said the call was received at 6:54 p.m. that Prebish’s 2002 Kia Optima was struck by a 2006 Chevy pick-up truck. McMorris said Prebish, the only passenger in her vehicle, was dead at the scene. About a mile from Pricedale Drive, McMorris said Prebish was leaving her home to go to a store when the accident occurred.

Rushing said the driver and two passengers in the Chevy pick-up were transported to King’s Daughters Medical Center with various injuries. Any contributing circumstances are still under investigation.
