Lady Cats win three at Wesson

WESSON – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured three wins in the Wesson Softball tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Cats crushed the Clinton Lady Arrows 12-2 in the opener, thumped the Franklin Co. Lady Bulldogs 15-1 and won the third game over Wesson 7-1.

“Great day,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “The girls hit the ball well and played great defensively. We need to keep this momentum.”

Bogue Chitto (7-2) will resume action Tuesday as it hosts the Puckett Lady Wolves. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed the by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

BC 12, Clinton 2 

The Lady Cats came out and quickly dominated the Lady Arrows to win in a five-inning contest.

Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with two strikeouts and one walk.

Terrah Nelson powered the Lady Cats at the plate with a double and two singles. Christian Black fueled the flames with two doubles. Cherie Savoie, Codi Leggett and Zariah Matthews contributed a double and a single apiece. Alana Nettles ripped a triple. Myers hit a pair of singles and Baileigh Jackson had a single.

BC 15, Franklin Co. 1 

The Lady Cats dominated the Lady Bulldogs in a four-inning contest.

Myers (0K, 0BB) collected her second win of the evening for BC.

Sydney Scott suffered the setback on the mound for Franklin County with no strikeouts and five walks.

Nelson continued her hot hitting streak to lead the Lady Cats with two doubles. Nettles provided a double and a single. Leggett contributed two singles. Reagan Kirkland, Matthews, Black and Jackson hit safely.

Tabitha Thompson was the top hitter for the Lady Bulldogs with two singles. TiMara Mackey, Shelly Case and Savannah Frith had a single each.

BC 7, Wesson 1 

In the final game, the Lady Cats and the Lady Cobras battled all seven innings as BC prevailed 7-1.

Myers (0K, 2BB) pitched the win for the Lady Cats.

Riley Smith absorbed the setback for the Lady Cobras with no strikeouts and one walk.

Black sparked the Lady Cats’ offense with a home run and three singles. Leggett added fuel to the flames with a home run, double and a single. Nelson, Nettles and Myers provided a pair of singles apiece. Savoie and Kirkland hit safely.

Catherine Wilson and Katie Westbrook directed the Lady Cobras’ offense with two singles each. Hitting safely were Brooke Jones, Aurianna Vaughn and Kaitlyn Smith.
