Funeral services for Billy S. Chapman are Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Franklin Funeral Home with burial in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County. Pallbearers are Ronnie Carwyle, Ken Carwyle, Jeremy Howell, Adam Steele, James Conley, Eddie Holmes, Mark Fortenbery, Joey Taylor and Ronny Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Meadville Fire Department. Rev. Matt Alexander and Rev. Johnny Bowlin will officiate the services.  Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. and will continue Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

Mr. Chapman, 87, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.  He was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Lucien to James Quitman and Ollie Wilson Chapman.

Billy was a member and deacon of Meadville Baptist Church. He was a long-time employee of Scarbrough Motors in Meadville and co-owner of C & C Motors in Meadville. He served as the Meadville Fire Chief for several years. He really enjoyed fishing, traveling and dining out. He was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Betty Ann Chapman.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Reba Carwyle Chapman; and a host of nieces; nephews; and friends.

The family wishes to extend a very special “Thank You” to caregiver, Katherine Channell.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to Natchez Children’s Home, Baptist Children’s Village or St. Jude’s.
