Lady Cobras clobbers Crystal Springs

CRYSTAL SPRINGS – The Wesson Lady Cobras finished their district run undefeated as they blanked the Crystal Springs Tigers 17-0 Saturday in slowpitch softball action.

The Lady Cobras (15-7, 6-0) will return home to host the West Lincoln Lady Bears Tuesday. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

The Lady Cobras came out and quickly dominated the Lady Tigers in a five-inning contest.

Riley Smith was the winning pitcher for Wesson with one strikeout and no walks.

All Lady Cobras hitters contributed to the win as Harmoni Ashley led the pace with two inside-the-park home runs and a single. Arie Douglas and Cheyenne Gladden provided a double and two singles each. Aurianna Vaughn ripped a pair of doubles. Riley Smith blasted an inside-the-park home run and a single. Brook Jones and Nikki Guess also hit a double and a single each.

Ashley was the top defensive player for the Lady Cobras with three outs and one assist at first base.

For the Lady Tigers, Isiah Lee was the only hitter for the Lady Tigers with a single. Crystal Springs pitcher Nashea Jackson suffered the loss with one strikeout and one walk.
