Best of Best winners deserve pat on back

Inside today’s edition of the newspaper, you’ll find a project driven by you, the reader. Our new Best of the Best Reader’s Choice Awards publication recognizes the best of what Brookhaven and Lincoln County have to offer.
You voted on businesses and individuals in more than 100 categories — everything from Best Banker to Best Lunch to Business of the Year. We thank you for those votes, and we congratulate those who won. It says a lot when your customers select you as the “best” in any category.
We also thank the many businesses and individuals that participated in the Reader’s Choice Awards publication.
We have one category that wasn’t included in the publication. The Best Newspaper Reader award goes to each and every one of you. Yes, we know it’s cheesy, but it’s true. Our faithful readers are the reason we publish a newspaper. Without you, we wouldn’t be here.
Though we can’t present each and every one of you a certificate, we can say “thank you.”
Election info in today’s edition
Our guide to the General Election is also included in today’s edition. Inside you’ll find ballot information and candidate profiles.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, and we encourage everyone to vote. Voters have until Saturday at noon to cast an absentee ballot at the Circuit Clerk’s office.
Circuit Clerk Dustin Bairfiled reminds voters to bring their photo identification with them. If an individual forgets his or her voter ID, the voter has five days to bring a valid identification to the Circuit Clerk’s office to validate the ballot.
Precincts are the same as the primary elections. To check which precinct you should be voting at, visit http://www.deltacomputersystems.com/ms/lccc/precincts.html or contact the Circuit Clerk’s office.
