Alcorn State clinches SWAC East with win over Alabama A&M

LORMAN (AP) – Lenorris Footman, Darryan Ragsdale and Marquis Warford each ran for 100 yards on Saturday, and Alcorn State beat Alabama A&M 44-10 to clinch the Southwestern Athletic Conference East Division title.

The Braves (7-3, 6-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) set a school record for yards rushing in a game with 500. They will complete their regular season at Jackson State next Saturday, and then play Grambling State in the SWAC championship on Dec. 5.

Footman kept it 16 times for 142 yards and a touchdown. Ragsdale ran nine times for 125 yards and a score, and wide receiver Warford ran four times for 118 yards and two scores. Warford also caught one of Footman’s passes for a 30-yard touchdown.

De’Angelo Ballard scored the only touchdown for Alabama A&M (2-8, 2-6) to cap the scoring in the fourth quarter on a 13-yard keeper.
