Funeral services for Gwendolyn Huff Clarke of Jackson, formerly of Brookhaven, are Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 2 p.m. with burial in the Red Star Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Visitation is Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Brookhaven Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday at Red Star Church from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Mrs. Clarke, 64, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. She was born Aug. 20, 1951, in Brookhaven to Rayford Jewel Huff and Helen Calcote Huff.

Gwen lived her growing up years in Natchez and graduated from Natchez High School. She completed an art degree from Brigham Young University, then furthering her desire for education with a nursing degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College. Gwen excelled in many administrative jobs with the government finally retiring from Veterans Administration in Jackson. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the Madison Ward.

Gwen was a spirit of inspiration to others. She always kept a smile, even through rough times and always was willing to listen to you no matter what and offer advice. She was never judgmental and encouraged all to follow their dreams and wants, which was a driving force for her children’s desire for education. She will be deeply missed. We will miss her courage and faith in God and family. Gwendolyn Clarke had no guile. Heaven has a new angel to watch over us.

Preceding her in death was her father, Rayford Jewel Huff.

Survivors are her four sons, Alex Clarke and wife, Erin, of Vacaville, California, Keith Clarke and wife, Jennifer, of Kirksville, Missouri, Jonathan Clarke and Kevin Clarke, both of

Jackson; four grandchildren; her mother, Helen Calcote Huff of Brookhaven; brothers, Willie Huff and wife, Joni, of Byram and Barry Huff of Brookhaven; sisters Paula Huff Blalock of Natchez, Pam Huff Dansie and husband, Rex, of Utah, and Suzette Huff Sullivan of Brookhaven; and numerous extended family members and friends.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Susan G. Komen Foundation (Breast Cancer).
