The Enterprise Lady Jackets rallied back in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday night to beat the Taylorsville Lady Tartars 4-1 in the Class 2A playoffs.

“The girls game a great game against a very good Taylorsville team,” said Enterprise coach Charissa Burke. “This was a big win for us, but now must regroup and start focusing on the big test on getting a victory over there on Thursday.”

The Lady Jackets (17-9) will be on the road Thursday as they visit Taylorsville to battle the Lady Tartars in the second game of the series starting at 5:30 p.m.; if a third game is needed it will immediately follow.

Lady Jackets 4, Lady Tartars 1 

The Lady Jackets and the Lady Tartars battled in a defensive, pitchers’ duel until the third inning, when Taylorville’s Chenai Keyes hit a solo homerun to give the Lady Tartars a 1-0 lead.

Taylorsville threatened to score more runs in the top of the third inning with the bases loaded and one out, but the Lady Jackets’ defense held strong.

The score would remain the same until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Enterprise’s offense caught fire and plated four runs on a two RBI single by Lauren Gartman and a two-RBI single by Kalyn Chemin.

Haley Nations was the winning pitcher for the Lady Jackets with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Lauren Stringer suffered the loss for Taylorsville with 12 strikeouts and one walk.

Haley Nations powered the Lady Jackets’ offense with two singles. Lauren Gartman and Kalyn Chemin provided a two-RBI single each. Jana Nations hit a single.

Chenai Keyes paced the Lady Tartars at the plate with a homerun. Katelyn Harrison had a single.
